The Mysterious Life of Amelia By Naira L. Harven
When the Words Don’t Flow
This book, unfortunately, was a struggle from the very beginning. I always try to go into a story with an open mind, but sometimes the execution makes it nearly impossible to stay engaged and that was the case here.
From the start, the pacing felt slow and confusing. The FMC suddenly transfers to a new school, but the reasoning behind it isn’t explained, leaving the plot without a solid foundation. Instead of drawing me in, it made the opening feel disconnected and difficult to follow.
The biggest issue, however, was the editing and layout. Poor editing can completely take you out of a story, and in this case, it did just that. Sentences felt choppy, transitions were unclear, and the formatting made it hard to concentrate on the actual narrative. Even when I tried to push through, I found myself pulled out of the world again and again, which made the book more frustrating than enjoyable.
I gave it multiple attempts, hoping that the story would eventually smooth out, but unfortunately, the issues remained. It’s rare that I DNF a book, but here I just couldn’t finish.
As for spice, I can’t give a rating, since I didn’t make it far enough to encounter any.
⭐️ Final Rating: 0/5
